The list of reservation of villages and classification of seats for panchayat elections was released on Tuesday. With this, politics started afresh at every village and block level. Those who held the post of Pradhan, BDC member, block chief and district panchayat member for the last five years will now have to give up their seats. In the new equation, if some sit at home, some will get a chance. The candidates have geared up for this. At the same time, the parties have also started formulating their new strategy.
According to District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey, the classification list of reservation in gram panchayats has been released. Now objections have been sought from the people. After disposal of objections, the final list will be sent to the government.
Following the new delimitation in Ghaziabad, the Scheduled Castes have got a total of 31 seats for the post of head. While the backward classes account for 41 seats. A total of 89 seats will have to be contested by the general category. In the elections to be held in the year 2021, these seats will be beaten with new equations. The seats which were reserved in the last election have now gone back to normal. Some general seats have come in reserved category this time. There are all such seats, which were falling in the reserved category for the last two elections, but this time they have become normal. Anyone can contest on them. In such a situation, the seats will be renewed and politics will change in the gram panchayats.
No seats in ST’s account
The Scheduled Tribes have not got reservation in panchayat elections on the basis of population. The reason for this is being told that there are no people of this caste in Ghaziabad district. Even in the last elections, not a single seat was reserved for this class.
