A Balkan cyclone brought down a snow storm on the Tula region. The streets were covered with snow, in Tula even additional special equipment was needed to remove the consequences of the snowfall.
In the regional center, the snow cover reached 26 centimeters. The largest « snow cap » in the region was recorded in Aleksin – 31 centimeters.
Today, snow (in places heavy) and a blizzard are predicted in the region. The air temperature will be -15… -8 degrees, 17 degrees frost is expected at night. Wind gusts in some places will reach 12-17 m / s.
The Tula Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring predicts an increase in frost. The air temperature on the night of January 16 will be -19 degrees.
Taking into account the unfavorable weather forecast, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Tula Region switched to an enhanced mode of operation and warns residents about observing safety measures. Car drivers should slow down, increase the distance from other cars. Pedestrians are advised to acquire reflective elements so that they are visible at pedestrian crossings.
