Ebene Magazine - Andrew Oâ € ™ Keefe's fight against sex addiction

Sex addiction and an obsessive need for intimacy are two of the topics television personality Andrew O’Keefe is currently grappling with in the psychiatric department of a Sydney hospital.

The recently-deleted Seven Network star has been battling sex addiction for decades, a source told The Sunday Telegraph.

« He has a number of underlying problems, but the root of it is a sex addiction that drives him dangerous and self-destructive ways, » the insider said, highlighting for the first time the mental problems that O’Keefe has repeatedly sought treatment for.

A friend of ax host The Chase earlier this month told The Sunday Telegraph O’Keefe and Dr. Orly Lavee, the partner he allegedly assaulted on January 30th at her Randwick apartment, has « an amazing chemistry and a deep love for one another. »

The young children of the mother-of-two were not in the home on the night of the alleged incident.

Within months of separating from his wife Eleanor in 2017, O’Keefe was filmed kissing a brunette during an evening at The Den nightclub in Tasmania.

A 21-year-old college student told Woman’s Day magazine that she was shocked when an « off his face » O’Keefe grabbed her and started kissing her.

« I went over to say ‘hello’ to some of the friends he was sitting with and put my arm around him to take a picture, but I didn’t expect him to kiss me. It was a bit of a shock .  »

He reportedly struggled again with an incident at a Seven Network Christmas party in December 2017.

A year earlier, O’Keefe was hospitalized and treated for rib injuries, cuts and swelling on his face after being hit by a car while riding his bike home from a Christmas party for The Chase.

In 2018, he was also photographed frolic with two young women in a Brisbane hotel elevator during a break in production of The Chase.

The amorous encounter took place a decade after the appearance of a weather-beaten O’Keefe who collapsed in 2008 in the company of a blonde woman in a gutter outside the Revolver nightclub in Melbourne.

That same year, O’Keefe met Dr. Lavee, the St. Vincent’s Hospital haematologist who was to become his partner. The doctor invited him to share her Randwick apartment with her and played an important role in encouraging O’Keefe to seek treatment for problems that had plagued him for a decade.

On Thursday, a court heard that O’Keefe remains an involuntary inpatient in the mental health department of Randwick’s Prince of Wales Hospital – literally just blocks from Lavee’s Randwick home, where the alleged attack took place.

O’Keefe’s attorney moved to consider the 49-year-old for a Section 32 motion that gives the judge the power to dismiss the charge of assault and sentenced O’Keefe to treatment outside the criminal justice system.

If the provision is not granted, former domestic violence charity chair White Ribbon will plead guilty to the charges, his attorney told the court. The matter was adjourned until April.

Father of three, O’Keefe has sought treatment in and out of rehab for the past several years for the mental and emotional issues that plague him. He is committed to rehabilitation.

« There is another problem that I am not going to go into that was particularly poignant that came up after 40 years that I knew existed but that has never affected me the way it was, » he said.

Sex addiction and celebrity often go hand in hand. Actors David Duchovny and Michael Douglas turned out to be sex addicts along with comedian Russell Brand and singer Robbie Williams.

In 2018, Kanye West announced that his sexual addition began during puberty as a gamer playing hyper-sexualized computer games: « Look at the drive people need to have to have sex – to dress like.  »
this and get a haircut and be in a club at 3am on the freezing night, in the places they pick up a girl  »
